Definition: An on-screen QR code is a code displayed in broadcast, streaming, or presentation video, scanned by viewers from a distance with a handheld phone.
Screen codes fail for reasons print codes do not: they move, they vanish too quickly, and they are scanned from across a room. Keep the code perfectly static — no animation, no rotation, no parallax — because rolling shutter and motion blur destroy readability. Display it for at least eight to ten seconds so viewers can find their phone, and size it to the viewing distance: on a living-room screen, roughly a tenth of screen height is a safe minimum. Place it clear of channel bugs, subtitles, and the lower third, and never overlay it on moving footage where contrast changes frame to frame.
